Melanie Schlote DVM
Dr. Melanie Schlote is originally from Canada but has lived in Colorado most of her life. She completed a Bachelor of Science in biological science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, both from Colorado State University. She also obtained acupuncture certification through CuraCore in 2018. Her professional interests include orthopedics, surgery, physical therapy/rehabilitation and arthritis/pain management. She has a labrador mix named Boone and a chinchilla named Poluna. In her free time, Dr. Mel likes to enjoy the Colorado outdoors with hiking, rafting, kayaking and snowboarding.
Anika Farina DVM
Dr. Farina grew up along the East Coast and spent the majority of her years in Massachusetts. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Ecology/Evolutionary Biology at The University Colorado Boulder before completing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University in MA in 2018. Her interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, shelter medicine, and Fear Free handling techniques to decrease patient stress during veterinary examinations. Dr. Farina grew up with a variety of small animal pets including English Springer Spaniel pups. When not in the clinic she enjoys running, sailing, skiing and exploring all that Colorado has to offer.
Michelle Leak DVM
Dr. Michelle Leak graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. Leaks’ interests include geriatric medicine, fear-free handling, soft tissue surgery, pain management, internal medicine, and exotic animal medicine. She has two Flemish Giant rabbits, a Greyhound, and a cat. In her free time she enjoys hiking, swimming, and practicing the cello.
Gina has been with GVVC since December 2016. She graduated with honors from Bel-Rea Institute in summer of 2013 and has been a certified veterinary technician since. She enjoys spending time with her eclectic array of animals including a German shepherd named Josie, a calico cat named Chimichanga, and a ball python named Boopy. When not at work or in class, she can be found romping around in the mountains.
Keary joined the GVVC family in April of 2017. She initially started her career in veterinary medicine in 2013 as a receptionist and has gradually worked her way up from a tech assistant, to technician and now practice manager. You will find her in every area of the hospital assisting in any way she can. Keary is a Colorado native and enjoys multiple outdoor activities including foraging, hiking and cross-country skiing. Keary and her boyfriend Kyle are pet parents to two cats, Max and Mia and they also have two boa constrictors named Mya and Melody.
Jay joined the GVVC team in April of 2018 as a Certified Veterinary Assistant now working as a Veterinary Technician here at GVVC. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute in July of 2015. As a Colorado native, Jay enjoys going to the mountains, riding horses, and fishing. She has one Boston terrier, Jaws.

Melissa joined the team December 2017. Melissa has always had a love and passion for animals, especially her sweet pug Named Wags. She grew up in Wisconsin but has made Colorado her home since high school. In her free time, she enjoys concerts and spending time with her friends and family.
Amanda graduated from Bel-Rea in September of 2018 but has been working in the veterinary field for over 3 years now. Animals are her passion and she has 4 animals of her own, 2 cats and 2 dogs. In her free time she likes to go hiking, camping, and exploring with her fur babies.
Annie joined the GVVC team in October of 2019 as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Colorado Community College of Denver in May of 2018. Annie is a Colorado native that enjoys the outdoors including fishing and camping. Annie is a HUGE pug lover!! She has two pug babies of her own, Tillie Bean and Tater Tot.
Ben is a Colorado native that joined GVVC in December of 2018. He has been in the veterinary field since 2011 and graduated from CU Boulder in 2014. Ben stays very active outside of work! You will find him going to the gym, playing hockey or basketball and spending quality time with his girlfriend and his dog Jackson.
Emma joined the GVVC team in October of 2019. She has been in veterinary medicine since 2014 starting as a receptionist and has enjoyed working her way into a veterinary technician position. Emma is originally from Maryland but has been living in Colorado for over 20 years. She has one Labrador retriever with her boyfriend Matt and likes to spend her spare time enjoying the mountains with them.
